Hatton Point Portsmouth VA Neighborhood Tour

Hatton Point Portsmouth VA Neighborhood Tour

Hi, guys. Rachel Beasley here with ThatFitTeam. Welcome back to another Jeep ride. I am in the Churchland area of Portsmouth, Virginia. That zip code is 23703 and specific We are in Hatton Point. Wanted to show you this community. It’s one of my favorites in the area. I actually grew up just one neighborhood next to this one and rode my bike all through here from age 15 to probably actually when Jonathan and I had kids, we’d bring the kids through here, too. So love this neighborhood. It’s an awesome place to ride your bikes and also to live, tons of families in this neighborhood. So let’s get into the real estate business here in Hatton Point.

Hatton Point Real Estate Stats

So in the last 12 months, houses have sold in this community of Hatton Point between $165,000 to $675. You’re like, wait a minute, that’s a really huge range. And let me tell you why. You have houses in here small brick homes, ranch homes from like 1280 square feet, moving all the way up to about 4000 square feet. These homes range in a very big variety of style. And exterior materials. So you have a lot of vinyl siding throughout the community, but most of these homes are actually built brick full brick. So you have a ton of brick ranches and you have a ton of like larger brick homes in here too. The houses here are aged. This community was kind of established in the 1950s and had homes being built all through the fifties, the sixties, the seventies, even the eighties. There’s actually a few newer homes in the community that have been built in the last like ten to 15 years. And I say newer because when you’re comparing a 1950s home to like a house that was built in 2010 it definitely is going to feel newer.

Like I said before, there’s a lot of ranch homes here and then you have some Cape Cod and then you’ll have more traditional and contemporary Two-Story Homes. Pretty much they all have a garage, unless that garage has been converted into like a fourth bedroom with a master or maybe even a fifth bedroom or some of them have been converted to like a den, a second living area.

Hatton Point Community

But most of these are going to have a really good sized yard and you probably have about 50 homes in this community that are waterfront, and that’s Deep Waterfront that goes out to Elizabeth River because this is a very well established community. There’s a ton of beautiful trees in here as well. So any tree that you would find in the state of Virginia, lots of pines, lots of oak trees, lots of crape myrtles are pretty much just littered throughout this community. And it’s really, really beautiful. It’s a very beautiful, natural setting to drive through and live in. Now, let’s talk schools. We always say go to great schools dot org to check out the schools and their ratings and what you think about those, but do even more research, as I always say. But here you’ve got Churchland elementary. It’s kind of easy to remember Churchland in middle and Churchland high school, which all of those schools are probably about a five minute drive away from this community itself. So you’re in a really great spot close to the school’s tight knit community here.

You’ve got a ton of busses that come through here as well to pick up the kids. Churchland area is really big for their Little League baseball programs, soccer also, and then for for boys and girls, of course, they have other sports here as as a community. But those are the really big ones. What’s close by to Hatton Point and Churchland of Portsmouth, Virginia. So you’re probably a four minute drive to the interstate 164, which 164 will take you to downtown Portsmouth or the opposite direction will take you to the like northeast Suffolk area college drive to 664. So you are probably about a ten minute drive to downtown Portsmouth or if you go the opposite way, a ten minute drive to the Monitor Merrimack Bridge Tunnel, which takes you to the peninsula.

Restaurants Near Hatton Point

So it’s a really great spot. Very convenient, centrally located right here in Hampton Roads for you to get to pretty much any city and Hampton Roads and about 15 to 20 minute drive. We always talk about what restaurants are close by the Churchland area here specifically doesn’t really have a lot of restaurants to go to. Now you do have MoMac. That’s a brewery, really cool brewery to check it out if you live in the area. And then there’s Joe Jacks also. It’s amazing breakfast, amazing lunch. So certainly check those two places out. Those would be my high recommendations. For Churchland. They have a Starbucks also. But if you’re looking for more variety in a sit down restaurant, definitely check out downtown Portsmouth, which we’ve talked about before. Tons of beautiful, awesome restaurants down there. And then you’ve got Western Branch area, Chesapeake Square Mall area. There’s a lot of restaurants there, more chain restaurants if you’re going to go there.

And that’s a ten minute drive and then a ten minute drive in the other direction from here would be the Harborview area, which has a ton of restaurants, chain restaurants and also some more localized restaurants. Guads is there you guys, I’m obsessed. I know. If you have any questions about this neighborhood in particular or the surrounding areas, please let me know. I highly recommend the spot if you’re looking for a home to move into, or if you live here in Hatton Point and you’re looking to sell your home, we would love to be your go to real estate trusted team.
